DEPTH OF FIELD

Google Images - Annie Leibovitz I have choosen a picture taken by a Photographer called Annie Leibovitz's from her album for my Depth of field photo. Annie Leibovitz is an american photographer who was born in 1949, She learnt her photography skills from San Francisco Art institute and began her career taking pictures for the Rolling Stones magazine and has more recently done a Walt Disney campaign for Disneyland. I think her picture's really stand out from other photo's because how perfectly she has done them to give them a magical feel. As you can see this picture uses alot of light in the background where the castle is and gets darker towards to woman running. I think this photo represents the children's story 'Cinderella' as the woman has left one of her shoes behind and has light shining down on it. This picture's depth of field is very large comming from the focal point of the photo, the woman in the big blue dress, to the huge shinning castle at the background.

LIGHTING

Vee Spears - Google Images
Finally, a picture not from Perou. This a photo by an Australian photographer called Vee Speers, who is now currently living it Paris. This is  from Vee's album 'The Birthday Party' and this little boy is from a series of photo's from her album of children in old fashion in different poses. I think this photo really shows bright lighting as the boys skin is almost as pale as the white background, which really makes the hair from his helmet  and any shadowing stand out. The lighting also, off his helmet, reflects a very bright light off the top off his head, or that could just be his skin colour. I really like this photo because of the helmet is normally used as a piece of amour for the big and strong, but she's put it on a small skinny little boy, it's maybe showing he's strong on the inside or will grow up a hero.

FOCAL POINT

And another one of Perou's photo's, I couldn't find the name but this picture is from his album 'Personal'. I think Perou might of took this when he was out at a pub or a beach. I think this simple picture is a good example of focal point. Focal point is when the photographer is trying to make your eyes look at the thing they're taking a picture of first. I think this picture is a good example, such as when you see this you look straight at the big white letters on the roof of the building.

COMPOSITION

http://www.perou.co.uk/
This is another by Perou from his album 'Portraits'. This is a portrait of Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders out of the hit sitcom 'Absolutely Fabulous' and it is from a series of photo's that Perou has taken of celebrity partnerships. I think Perou has tried to make the atmosphere of the photo seem sleazy and tacky by using the outside of maybe a run down brick house with planked up windows because of the way Absolutely Fabulous was filmed, To add to this the two women both have drinks in their hands and very young clothing with alot of make up on to make them be seen as tarty and tasteless. The two women are composed with the graffiti'ed 'My God is me', The graffiti has just been sprayed on there instead of something big and artistic. This makes the two women seem lazy as they are both standing there looking bored. I like how this image is presented, it has a sort of funny feel to it and makes you think "Why are those women dressed like that?". This grabbed my attention because I enjoyed the funny side to it and I liked how Perou has used a simple background and simple objects to really bring out this picture.

Assignment 2

http://www.perou.co.uk/
Factual - This is a photo taken by a British fashion, portrait and music photographer named Ralph John Perou, But mostly known as, Perou.
Context -The man to me is unknown but there is a series of photo's of him in this style in Perou's Album 'dirtysexythings'.
Technical - I like how the photographer has used a stone like paint on the man's skin with a stoney blured background.
Aesthetic - I think the blured background makes the man stand out more. But, the thing that catches my eye the most is the man's blue eyes, they are the only colour that shines through the greys and browns and whites. I also like how the lighting twinkles of the surface of his cheast and cheeks. I think the photographer has not used a studio but gone to maybe a beach with a cliff's or rocks in the background and used the sun's raise as light for the man's skin to stand out, I would like to learn how to do this.
